Tsunami Backpackers is located on the pristine Somass River (tidal-fresh water, teeming with salmon from April to December) which flows into the Alberni Inlet on to the Broken Group of Isalnds & on to the Pacific Ocean. The hostel boasts a private-secluded beach, surrounded by old-growth trees, resident bald-eagles, hummingbirds, cranes & other species. Wildlife wanders freely in the unfenced yards in the area, such as bear (especially in the fall), deer, raccoon, martin, rabbits, etc | | Directions | Tsunami Backpackers is located at 5779 River Rd (or Highway 4),next door to Hummingbird Guesthouse, or 5 houses past Naesgaards Market (which has a huge grinning stuffed black bear out front) Highway 4 is the direct route to west coast-Tofino/Ucluelet. | | Transportation | Bus to Tofino stops directly in front...Bus depot is approximately a 10 minute walk. |
