Overview

Indulge yourself at the Chestnut Street Inn, a premier Asheville bed and breakfast located in the city's Chestnut Hill National Historic District.
This 1905 grand Colonial Revival home is one of the most distinctive, fully restored homes in Asheville, NC. Its architectural charm and grace features such interesting accents as the original staircase with a "courting bench", ornate mantles, high ceilings and large outdoor porches. Throughout the Inn, you will find an intriguing blend of eclectic furnishings and local artists' creations. The Chestnut Street Inn is proud to have received the "Griffin Award" for excellence in historic preservation.
Late afternoon tea is served daily, as well as a gourmet, candlelit three-course breakfast; plus Fri. and Sat. evening social time.

During your stay at the Inn, you will delight in the cozy elegance of our lodging accommodations. Each room or suite features a private bath, fine bath amenities, air conditioning, satellite TV, XM radio, wireless Internet access and award-winning chocolates on your pillow from The Chocolate Fetish.® You will sleep in comfort on beautiful beds with high quality linens. Some of the rooms in our North Carolina bed and breakfast indulge you further with Jacuzzi tubs, comfortable sitting areas, and gas fireplaces with original mantles and hearths.

You will awaken each morning to the aroma of fresh-brewed coffee and tempting smells from the kitchen as we prepare our homemade 3-course gourmet breakfast especially to delight your palate. After breakfast, stroll three blocks to historic downtown Asheville to explore the many shops, galleries, and restaurants. Just a short drive from the Inn is the elegant Biltmore Estate or the breathtaking views of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Return to the Inn to be pampered and refreshed with afternoon tea and one of our homemade desserts to be enjoyed in our sitting room or in the garden. Retreat to a welcoming rocker with a good book on our large front porch. Relax on the verandas while viewing Goddess Diana in the beautiful gardens or enjoy a relaxing in-room massage designed to melt away your every woe. We would be delighted to help you arrange a romance or spa package to make your visit to The Chestnut Street Inn especially memorable.

Guest Room Amenities

Upon entering, the antique mahogany bed will soon draw you in. The bed is complete with steps to boost you into heavenly comfort! Its private bathroom is complete with a shower.

The Iron Horse Room: Southern Railway’s introduction of the first steam locomotive, “Iron Horse”, brought more sophisticated visitors to Asheville. The centerpiece of this first floor room is the hand-carved queen size mahogany bed complete with steps to boost you into heavenly comfort! The large windows bring in cheerful sunlight from the side garden. At night, the gas fireplace gives this room a warm glow. For your comfort we have provided a comfortable leather chair, Cherrywood armoire, writting desk with LCD TV, satellite, DVD player, movies and wireless internet access. The recently updated private bathroom is complete with a shower, Cherrywood-Granite topped vanity with ample storage for your personal items .

Wall Street Room: Asheville's Wall Street is unlike the hectic Wall Street in Manhattan. Quaint & narrow, it is lined with boutiques & restaurants and is a favorite place for outdoor art shows and impromptu concerts. The highlight of this room is a stunning federal style canopy bed. Its views include an up close look at an award winning Dogwood tree and distant views of downtown Asheville when the leaves have fallen. Its private bathroom is complete with a shower.

The Grove Park Room: Dr. Edwin Wiley Grove, the St. Louis pharmacist, was famous for his Grove's Chill Tonic to ward off a cold. Like many others in the early 1900's, he was drawn to Asheville for health reasons. Once here, he built his dream inn, the Grove Park, which can be seen from this room during the winter and early spring. Just like the early visitors to Asheville, you too can relax and rejuvenate yourself in this newly remodeled room that features a ceramic tile shower with rain showerhead, a queen-size sleigh bed, gas fireplace, two comfortable chairs, early 1900's writing desk, a wall mounted 32" LCD TV, satellite access, DVD player, movies and WiFi. Recently we have updated the Grove Park room with a Select Comfort Sleep Number Bed (Model 5000 / Queen / Pillow Top / Single Chamber) that can be adjusted with a wireless remote for your personal sleeping comfort.

The Blue Ridge Room: The Blue Ridge Mountains were named for the blue-gray haze that veils the rolling hills. Cool, crisp mountain air and timeless natural beauty continue to draw flocks of vacationers to the city of Asheville. The Blue Ridge room is the ultimate in comfort with a working gas fireplace and a bay window that offers an idyllic nook for reading in a cozy love seat and the morning sun. The stylish décor has a cherry, 4-poster, king size bed as its focal point. And its private bathroom is complete with a shower. Other features of this room include an antique chest of drawers which accommodates the television with satellite, DVD player, movies and wireless internet.

Beaucatcher Cottage: Asheville tradition says that the girls of the Asheville Female College gave Beaucatcher Mountain its name because they would steal away to the mountaintop to meet the young male students from Colonel Stephen Lee’s school. This large suite, located on the second floor of the cottage behind the main house, is a perfect romantic hideaway. It is not as old as our historic inn; however, it provides our guests with all the modern amenities. The hardwood floors highlight this recently remodeled suite complete with a living room, sofa bed, gas "wood-burning" stove, sink, mini-refrigerator, coffee maker, and a table/chairs where you can enjoy your morning coffee. Pass through the pocket doors to find a Large bedroom with another sitting area that host a beautiful queen size Cherrywood Sleigh bed, a large comfortable wicker chair to relax, read or just watch television in. The suite offers television, satellite, DVD player, movies and wireless internet . The bathroom's 2-person Jacuzzi / Shower and plush robes create the ultimate romantic experience.

Biltmore Room: George Washington Vanderbilt's Biltmore Estate, a grand French Renaissance chateau, is America's largest private residence. As you enter the Biltmore room, the luxurious 4-poster, queen-size bed immediately catches your eye and invites you to relax and unwind. The room affords a magnificent view of the award-winning sugar maples on the grounds and a wintertime view of downtown Asheville. The spacious bathroom with tiger oak vanity, complete with a 2-person Jacuzzi Tub / Shower and plush robes, is a treat seldom found in an historic home of this vintage. Modern conveniences includes television, satellite, DVD player, movies, WiFi, quaint writting desk and four comfortable chairs.

Zen Retreat: This newly remodeled room is not only a place to lay your head, but an experience all in itself. The Zen, the only room on the third floor of the Inn engulfs you with a sense of calm. The king size bed and three window seats beckon you to relax among the pillows and beautiful hand carved Asian coffee table. Let your cares melt away in your private steam room complete with rain showerhead, plush robes and built in dressing table with lovely lighting and mirror . The room also includes a Flat Screen LCD TV, satellite access, DVD player, movies and WiFi. The Zen Retreat reflects the laid-back attitude for which Asheville is famous.
