Overview[ Top ]  |  [ Bottom ]

'Without a doubt, you will not find a better deal in Beijing!!!' “Zen provides efficient yet simple user friendly accommodations, surrounded by rich nearby culture amongst raw authentic Chinese ambience...all at real backpacker rates!!!” Super cheap, clean, comfortable, and a great city central, convenient location! 'No frills, and no weighty bills. Leave your troubles behind, while you climb the Great Wall hills…'
About us: We're one of the very few Hostels situated in and around one of the very few remaining Hutong locales in the city. Although we keep our rooms surprisingly super cheap, every room comes with heating, A/C, fresh hot/cold drinking water dispensers, private individual low cost market rate long distance access phones, and color cable television sets! Got Kids? Zen has special options available for families traveling with children, including free day care. Zen also offers knowledgeable customized VIP style tours; taking you to every distinct corner of Beijing where other tours can't. We can also introduce you to Chinese cultural performances like the fantastic art of Gong Fu, mind boggling acrobatics, the culturally sound Beijing opera, shadow puppet shows, a world class aquarium, and the modern and sprawling Beijing zoo, featuring the world famous panda bears of Peking. Nearby Zen there are many places to eat. Including a 24hour café/restaurant as well as convenient bargain shopping, walking distance from the hostel. As Zen's valued guest you also won't want to miss the fantastic Liulichang culture street, Da shi lar shopping street, and the resplendently amazing Niujie Mosque, plus endless chances to interact with the friendly locals...Don't be surprised if you're invited in for fresh cooked dumplings and hot pots of jasmine tea, by one of many warm neighborhood families. After a long day of exhilaration, you can meditate with real Buddhist monks at the nearby Fayuan temple, or local herbal teahouse ceremonies. While some might not find Zen has the most appealing look set into the little narrow Hutong alleyway, the staff and management are always humbly available to serve you and offer a sincere Chinese welcome. Most importantly we want to make sure you have a great stay while keeping your costs at the lowest minimum possible! Contact Zen customer service by email for details relating to specials and offers. 'Zen today, ...work tomorrow'

Location
Bustling and vibrant outer envioren yet quiet and friendly once inside the Hutong area surrounding the hostel.
DirectionsGet off at the Xuanwumen station and walk south about 10 minutes to the hostel. You'll need to phone us for more detailed instructions once you arrive as it is often difficult to navigate the Hutongs for some.
TransportationHop off your plane, train, or boat, and find a taxi. But make sure and avoid the unmarked huckster drivers that will approach you offering a ride. In most cases you WILL be over charged. Instead take a taxi with a meter. Then get a receipt for use in case you leave something. Don't pay anything until you understand the cost.

If taking an airport shuttle bus, the cost is about 16rmb for an approximately 50min ride to the inner city at Xidan. After arriving in Xidan, you can directly take a taxi (about 12rmb) to Zen Hostelry. You can also take a taxi directly to Zen from the airport, which will cost you about 120rmb. From both Beijing railway stations it costs no more than 30rmb.

Once you've booked online, if needed, we can provide you with more complete direction details via email.
