Himara is a bilingual region and municipality along the Albanian Riviera in southern Albania and part of Vlorë County. Apart from the town of Himara, the region consists of 7 other villages: Dhermi, Pilur, Kudhës, Qeparo, Vuno, Ilias and Palasa. Himara region is a belt about 20 km long and 5 km wide, bounded by mountains 2000 meters altitude pass northeast (known in Greek antiquity and in the local dialect as lightning mountains) and the Ionian Sea to the southwest. There are long white sandy beaches and very close to the hills which are planted with olive and orange trees.
The area has great potential for tourism, the main characteristics of its coastal promenade city, with many tavern with local products. Himara town consists of old town, castle, situated in and around the old castle and Spile in the coastal region, which is the tourism and economic center of the region. Other parts of the city are Potami, Livadhi, Zamari, Mihaili and Stefaneli. By the north of Himarë are the villages of Vuno, Ilias, Dhermi and its coastline Jaliskari, and Palasa. Dhermi contains a high number of recently built tourist centers and beaches. And by south the villages of Piluri, Qeparo and Kudhes.
