Great Cheap Hostel! ... I had a great stay at La Rocca in my 2 weeks in Buenos Aires. Honestly a great place with friendly staff, and one of the cheaper places in town. It has everything you could ask for at that price- a communal kitchen, 3 computers with internet, wifi, breakfast ...

Description - Hostel

La Rocca offers all the usual things you would expect from a hostel: cheap rates, friendly English-speaking staff, 24/7 check-in, secure lockers & bag storage, free internet & wi-fi, fully equipped kitchens and bathrooms, free breakfast, round-the-clock cleaners and comfortable beds with fresh linen. It even has a few extras like it's stylish 1900s building complete with colourful aquariums, 24hr Bar, free Nightclub tickets, free emergency medical call-out service, airport transfers and a location bang in the heart of the city, surrounded by 4 subway lines, 45 local bus lines. Theyll even throw in a free night if you pay for 6 upfront!

Really, though, it has a lot more. La Rocca offers guests a chance to experience Buenos Aires from the inside out. Run by Argentineans (although don't worry, they all speak English!) La Roccas staff will not only help and advise you with every aspect of your travels, from your daily itinerary to your onward destinations, they will also share their mate with you, teach you the local lingo, make you a cocktail and invite you to enjoy asado, the traditional barbecue.

And the Argentinean lifestyle isnt the only culture you can tune into at La Rocca. The hostel is famed for its eclectic mix of cultures, with guests from all over South & Central America mixing with Australians, Europeans, North Americans and just about every other nationality. The bar is a hub of different languages; the kitchen and terrace full of travellers sharing stories, plans, food and more often than not, a few beers.

But dont worry, if you just want to relax and stay out of the limelight, ask for the 3rd floor, where the drones of the all-night bar are unheard and private single & double rooms provide some backpacker luxury (Cable TV, A/C, Heaters).

And if you really want to get away from it all, La Roccas sister hostel, located in Palermo is now taking bookings (email for details) or else LA Rocca properties can offer you a long-term package with cheap deals on fully furnished apartments all over the city.

Yes, they really do have everything covered but if you think of anything else, send them an email and theyll do everything they can to accommodate you.

How to get there

GETTING THERE:

By plane:
Ezeiza International Airport:
The international airport is around 45 minutes out of the city. Taxi's are available at the airport but it is more convenient (and cheaper) to organize a transfer. La Rocca can help with but please email in advance.
A cheaper option is to take a bus. A non-stop shuttle bus which will take you to Plaza San Martin is run by Manuel Tienda Leon, with tickets available to buy in the airport.
A local bus 'Line 86' (blue coloured) makes a long trip to Bartolome Mitre and Callao, one block from our Hostel.

Aeroparque (the national airport): Taking a Taxi is the best option as it will only take around 10 minutes.
However the 'line 37' bus (colour green) will take you to Rodriguez Peña and Corrientes Avenue, just one block from the Hostel.

Arriving by ship:
Buquebus & Ferrylineas: From Darsena Norte, you can take a taxi or the 'line 140' bus, getting off at Cordoba Av. and Callao Av., 4 blocks from the hostel.

Long-distance Buses:
All long-distance buses arrive at Retiro station, where you can easily take the subway to the hostel if you arrive during the day ('C' Line, changing at Carlos Pellegrini to the 'B' line and getting off at Callao, just 1 block from the hostel)
If arriving late at night or tired from your travels, taxi's are easy to find but make sure you get a registered black/yellow cab. Ask for Callao 341 (Callao/Corrientes crossroads).
