Description - Bed and breakfast

Today, completely restored and refurbished, the Wheeler Mansion is one of the city's most charming small hotels. The Segers kept intact whatever was salvageable, including the mosaic tile floor in the vestibule and some of the dark walnut woodwork and fixtures. But they added good-size private bathrooms to each room (some have only shower stalls rather than bathtubs).

The Wheeler Mansion has all of the connivances travelers expect in a first class hotel. The eleven rooms at The Wheeler Mansion will provide guests with an exquisite, quite urban getaway. All of the rooms have private baths and are individual designed, including 19th Century furnishing. Each room has dual- line phone and a fax/date port provided for our business- minded guests. Our guests can enjoy the expansive living room to catch up on the daily news or to relax near the fireplace. The complimentary breakfast buffet and afternoon tea serve daily and can be enjoyed in the elegant dinning room or on the veranda thought the French doors overlooking the courtyard gardens. Located in downtown and Chicago’s Museum Campus, and 2 blocks from McCormick Place, The Wheeler Mansion is perfectly located for easy access to Chicago’s downtown.

The rooms -- which are spacious enough to include armoires and armchairs -- feel even larger, thanks to the high ceilings. Antique furniture that the Segers found in Europe fills the house, and guests dine on bone china and sleep on goose-down feather beds. A continental breakfast by the resident chef is served weekdays. On weekends, the buffet features a more elaborate array of dishes.

How to get there

Directions to property: The Wheeler Mansion is located at 2020 S Calumet, Chicago, Illinois 60616 two blocks north of McCormick Place. From I-90/94 coming from the north or south exit at Congress Parkway and go east to Michigan Avenue south. From I-290 coming from the west the expressway will turn into Congress Parkway which you can fallow east to Michigan Ave south. Take Michigan Ave south to 18th street(south), and The Wheeler Mansion will be on the right hand side of South Calumet.
