Batu Ferringhi is known for its beautiful beaches and world famous night market selling everything from souvenirs and memorabilia, to handbags, jewelry, watches, clothing and homemade arts and crafts. The beach front is home to several large scale hotels including; Rasa Sayang, Golden Sands Resort, Holiday Inn and the new Hard Rock Hotel and Bar, and several local bars, cafes and food courts. Many varieties of food are available including traditional local Malaysian cuisine, Italian, Chinese, Indian and many more. For those less adventurous there is a large KFC and brand new McDonalds along with several ‘western’ restaurants on the main street. Batu Ferringhi has a few small shops selling souvenirs and beach necessities, in addition to several money changers, ATM’s, pharmacies, mini marts and local supermarkets. Once you have arrived in Batu Ferringhi you’ll find it hard to leave as there is everything you could possibly need. Additional activities and ‘things to see and do’ around Penang include a visit to the; 1) the major heritage buildings and clanhouses in George Town, 2) Thee Kong Tua (Jade Emperor’s Temple) in Air Itam, 3) Penang Hill, 4) Kek Lok Si Temple, 5) Reclining Buddha, 6) National Park (Muka Head), 7) Toy Museum, 8) Tropical Spcie Garden (it’s the only spice garden in South East Asia), 9) Snake Temple and the 10) Butterfly Farm.
