The Birches Backpackers Lodge

A small comfortable Lodge with 20 beds (linen provided) in several different sized rooms. Separate shower, bath and toilets facilities.
Relaxation deck, and thatch lapa (with communal dining table) and swimming pool. Barbecue facility available, otherwise some self cooking facilities are available. Larger group meals may be arranged by booking with the Lodge reception.
We provide breakfasts from R25. 00 per meal, evening meals from R30. 00, and between meals snacks from R20. 00.

Medical TOURISM:
Various medical facilities e. g. The EYE Hospital, various key specialist treatment facilities (Milpark, Sandton, Rosebank and various other hospitals & medical centres) who are major providers to foreign or out-of-town patients, are close to the Lodge - we provide a safe and quiet base for patient stays as well as assisting with transport arrangements to/from these facilities.

Many different types of restaurants/cuisines and take away eateries are close by.

The nearest underground railway station is an easy 6 km in Rosebank with another station about 8 km away, both in big retail shopping and entertainment districts.
The Johannesburg Botanical Gardens are 1. 5 km away, and the nearest banks (including foreign exchange services) and ATMs are an easy 500 metres from the Lodge gates.

For directions from the International airports, train or bus terminals, request directions from the lodge.
For road travellers, from the N3 highway, take the Beyers Naude Drive off-ramp and proceed in Beyers Naude Drive for approximately 8 km in the direction of Johannesburg City Centre, south. At the intersection of Mendelsohn Road, turn left and immediately right onto Anton von Wouw Street. Proceed about 500 m down the road, and number 39 will be on the right-hand side.
