The hotel is 2*, think clean, fairly comfortable, hot water (plenty of that). The staff is 5*. The location is 5*. This hotel saved us a giant chunk of change. It is 1 long block from both the train station and the Blue Bus station that goes to the airport. The staff gave us a map, instructions on how to use the train to get to Venice, where to find the bus to the airport, and an excellent recommendation foran inexpensive but good restaurant in Venice. All helped us to have a smooth visit to Venice. Thanks Hotel Giovaninna! I recommend it for budget wise travelers-it gives you the basics you need at a good price, and the location is VERY MUCH APPRECIATED by tired humans at the end of a long day.

A nice and comfortable place to stay near Venice. Transportation from Mestre cost just 1 euro and it takes only 10 minutes to get Santa Lucia Rail Station.

Visitors to Venezia, Italia often find that staying on la isola can cost a fortune. But there is a more affordable alternative: Mestre, Italia, which is a suburb of Venezia but offers convenient bus and train service to la isola. And if you're looking for a budget pensione in Mestre, one option is Albergo Giovannina—which is only a few short blocks from Mestre’s train station. Albergo Giovannina isn’t fancy, but it’s clean, affordable and convenient to the bus that takes you to the heart of Venezia. And I really enjoyed meeting Uncle George, the Greek who works at the front desk some nights. Uncle George is a real character; meeting him was definitely one of the highlights of my two nights in Mestre (thanks for the uzzo…..efharisto!). He speaks fluent Italian if you want to practice your Italian, but he also speaks excellent English (una persona possa parlare con lui in inglese o in italiano se preferisce). Some travelers have alleged that Mestre can be a bit seedy in spots; I never felt unsafe in Mestre, and in terms of seediness, nothing I saw in Mestre even begins to compare to the squalor I saw around Piazza Garibaldi in Napoli (jokingly referred to as “the Tepito of Europe”).

Bottom line: if you want to see Venezia without breaking the piggy bank, consider staying in Mestre and consider staying at Albergo Giovannina. Buon viaggio!

Hello,
The hotel is very well placed both to the station and from the bus. Regarding accommodation only problem was the cold room. Heat function, a single radiator but can not warm the room. In addition the heat was started at 19 until after midnight. The rest is OK.
